Actress Hina Khan shared a simple wellness tip for those observing Ramadan, revealing that beginning and ending the fast with Ajwa dates helps prevent acid reflux and keeps discomfort at bay during the holy month.

Hina took to Instagram stories on Friday early morning, where she shared a picture of two Ajwa dates, a heart-healthy superfood, whose natural sugar and fiber provide a long-lasting energy boost.

For the caption, she wrote: "Tip Ajwa se shuru, Ajwa se hi khatam... No acid reflux, no discomfort in Ramadan."

Hina had also shared a romantic monochrome picture with her husband Rocky Jaiswal. In the picture, the couple are looking at each other and holding hands.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. It is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, communal prayer, reflection, and community.

She had earlier urged to maintain a 'healthy & balanced' diet during Ramadan and avoid overeating.

She stressed that eating heavy, fried, and sugary food after hours of fasting can cause weight gain, along with digestive issues and fatigue.

Taking to her official Instagram Stories, the 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai' actress wrote, "It is a very common practice to overeat during iftar. I know after hours of fasting, the body often craves quick energy, leading to high consumption of, particularly heavy, fried, and sugary khaana, which eventually leads to weight gain, digestive issues, Fatique..(sic)."

She further asked everyone to focus on their fibre and protein intake.

"Lets just not indulge in these cultural habits and eat wisely..Break the fast gradually, chew slowly, take breaks and hydrate smartly..Prioritise Fibre and Protein In your diet..Once in a while is ok but don't make it a habit..", added Hina.

She requested all to "Keep it healthy and Balanced Don't shock your body."

Hina Khan is noted for her versatility across genres from family dramas and reality shows to psychological thrillers. One of the highest-paid television actresses in India, she is widely recognised for portraying Akshara Maheshwari Singhania in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai.

The actress emerged as the runner-up in the eighth and the eleventh seasons of the reality shows Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi and Bigg Boss.

She then played the critically acclaimed negative character in the romantic television series Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 from 2018 to 2019.

She had auditioned for the singing reality show Indian Idol where she managed to be in the top 30 in 2008. In 2024, she revealed that she is suffering from Stage-3 Breast cancer and confirmed that she is undergoing chemotherapy for the treatment.

Her advice about not overeating at iftar is spot on. Every year I see people at the local mosque feast on fried samosas and sweets right after breaking the fast, only to feel unwell later. Moderation is key.

Respectfully, while the tip is good, it feels a bit promotional. Many Indian households already know these practices. The real issue is access to quality dates and nutritious food for everyone, not just those who can afford it.

Good reminder about fibre and protein. Often during festivals and fasting periods, we Indians tend to go overboard with fried foods. Whether it's Ramadan, Navratri, or any other observance, balanced diet should be the priority.
