Dane was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, known as Lou Gehrig's disease, in 2025.

"With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS. He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world. ALS is such a cruel disease. Respect to him for using his platform to raise awareness even while battling it. We need more funding for research globally, including in India where such neurodegenerative diseases are often stigmatized.

Oh no! McSteamy is gone. 😢 Grey's Anatomy was a huge part of my college days. He brought so much charm to the show. 53 is no age to go. Life is so unpredictable.

His performance as Cal Jacobs on Euphoria was incredibly nuanced and brave. He tackled a complex, flawed character with such humanity. A great loss to the acting community.

While his advocacy work is commendable, the article feels a bit like a filmography list. I wish it focused more on the person behind the roles and his fight with ALS, which is the real story here.

He seemed like a wonderful father. Leaving behind two young daughters is the saddest part. I hope they are surrounded by love and support.
