Goods train derails near Manubolu, disrupting Vijayawada-Chennai & Tirupati rail traffic
Nellore, March 31
A goods train derailed near the Manubolu-Kommarapudi railway station in the Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.
According to Nellore CI Sudhakar, a single tanker from a train travelling from Vijayawada to Tirupati to load milk lost control and overturned.
As a result, train services connecting Vijayawada to both Chennai and Tirupati have been disrupted.
Upon receiving news of the accident, railway officials rushed to the site and initiated restoration work immediately.

Thank God it was a goods train and not a passenger train. My brother travels on the Vijayawada-Chennai route frequently. Hope the restoration is swift and they find the root cause. The milk supply might also get affected.
The officials rushed immediately, which is good. But the real test is preventing such accidents. Is it track maintenance, wagon fault, or human error? A single tanker derailing shouldn't cripple two major routes for long.
