"From now onwards, Nari Shakti will not be just a slogan. It will stand as the strength of our civilization. - Pawan Kalyan"

Amaravati, April 16

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said on Thursday that the introduction of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam Amendment Bill 2026, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stands as a historic step towards securing women their rightful place in governance by ensuring 33 per cent reservation for women in legislative bodies.

He said the Jana Sena Party always stood firmly for women's empowerment, not merely in words, but through action.

"Our commitment to 33% reservation for women, as promised in the 2019 elections, reflects our belief in equal opportunity and rightful representation," the Jana Sena chief posted on 'X'.

"Women are the foundation of our society. From nurturing families to shaping the nation, their role is irreplaceable. When a woman rises, the nation rises. This is not about granting new rights; it is about restoring what rightfully belongs to women. Stronger women build stronger families. Stronger families build a stronger nation. From now onwards, Nari Shakti will not be just a slogan. It will stand as the strength of our civilization. Let us move forward with the spirit of Shakti to build a just, equal, and empowered India," Pawan Kalyan said.

He noted that "Bharat today celebrates the rising power of Nari Shakti across every sphere of life. Reflecting this national transformation, R Vaishali has created history by winning the Women's Candidates Tournament in Cyprus, becoming the first Indian woman to earn the right to challenge for the Women's World Chess Championship".

The actor-politician wrote that from the chessboard to the Olympic podium, Indian women continue to inspire the nation - from governance and public service strengthened by President Droupadi Murmu, to scientific excellence represented by Ritu Karidhal in India's space missions, to sporting excellence showcased by P.V. Sindhu bringing Olympic glory, Mirabai Chanu lifting the nation's pride with historic achievements, and Nikhat Zareen dominating the world boxing stage.

"This journey of empowerment is deeply rooted in India's constitutional foundations, shaped by founding mothers of the Indian constitution such as Dakshayani Velayudham, Hansa Mehta, Durgabai Deshmukh, Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit and Rajkumari Amrit Kaur, whose contributions to the framing of the Indian Constitution ensured dignity, equality, and justice for generations of Indian women. All these victories symbolize a powerful truth - when opportunity meets talent, women lead, excel, and inspire nations," he added.

Good words from Pawan Kalyan. But we have heard such promises before. The real test will be in the implementation. Reservation is a start, but we need to ensure women have a safe environment to participate in politics without fear or bias.

As someone following Indian politics, it's heartening to see this focus. The mention of the constitution's founding mothers is crucial. Real change needs to come from the grassroots up, not just top-down legislation.

Absolutely correct! When our mothers and sisters are empowered, the whole nation benefits. From ISRO scientists to Olympic athletes, they are already making us proud. It's time politics caught up. Jai Hind!

While I appreciate the sentiment, I hope this isn't just political rhetoric before elections. We need concrete plans for education, healthcare, and safety to truly empower Nari Shakti. The bill is one piece of a much larger puzzle.

Good move. More women in legislatures will lead to better discussions and policies on issues that matter to families. Our panchayats already show the positive impact of women's reservation.
