A fire broke out at Mookkunnimala locality in the Malayinkeezhu area of Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday, prompting a swift response from fire and rescue services, officials said.

Officials from three fire stations, including Tattinkara, Rajaji Nagar, and Kattakkada, were deployed to the spot to douse the blaze.

The hilltop locality houses a radar station and firing range used by the Keralam Police and the Army for training purposes.

However, the difficult terrain posed significant challenges for rescue and firefighting operations, hampering access to the affected area.

The terrain there is really tough. I've been to that area once. Hope the fire fighters manage to reach the spot quickly. Stay safe everyone! ❤️

With radar station and firing range nearby, this could have been very dangerous if spread. Good that authorities responded quickly. But why are such fires happening so often in summer? Need better precautions.

I appreciate the quick response from three fire stations. The terrain challenge is real, but our fire fighters are doing their best. Hope this serves as a wake-up call to install better fire safety infrastructure in such remote areas.

Seriously, why do these summer fires keep happening? Is it due to negligence or natural causes? With military training areas nearby, we need to be extra cautious. 😠

Thankful that no casualties reported yet. The firefighters are doing a great job in such tough terrain. Hope they can control it soon and we get to know the cause of this fire.
