Itanagar, April 13

Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen K.T. Parnaik on Monday asserted that educated, disciplined, motivated, and articulate youth serve as the driving force behind a progressive society.

The Governor participated in the youth interaction programme Let's Speak Arunachal held at Lok Bhavan in Itanagar, where he highlighted the importance of empowering young people with confidence, discipline, and the ability to express their thoughts effectively.

He noted that these qualities are essential in shaping responsible citizens and future leaders.

The programme, organised by the NGO Let's Speak Arunachal in collaboration with the Governor's Secretariat, aimed to inspire students to overcome hesitation and communicate with clarity and confidence.

Commending the initiative, Lt Gen Parnaik praised Let's Speak Arunachal for conducting workshops across the state and fostering a culture of civic awareness and effective communication among young minds.

Reiterating his views, he said that when youth are well-educated, disciplined, motivated, and confident in expressing themselves, they become the cornerstone of a progressive society.

Drawing from his personal experiences, the Governor encouraged teachers and parents to actively support children in developing public speaking skills.

He emphasised that consistent practice, proper guidance, and encouragement at home and in schools can significantly enhance a child's communication abilities.

He also underlined the importance of proficiency in English, describing it as a vital tool for better career prospects and meaningful engagement in today's interconnected world.

Reaffirming his commitment to youth development, Lt Gen Parnaik announced that the Governor's Secretariat will organise a Debate Declamation competition at Lok Bhavan.

The initiative aims to provide students with a platform to hone their speaking skills and build self-confidence.

He further advised that such events should be conducted regularly in schools and colleges.

During the programme, the Governor felicitated outstanding students and individuals who have made significant contributions to promoting public speaking through Let's Speak Arunachal.

The event also featured an open platform where students shared their personal experiences, reflecting on how such initiatives have helped them overcome stage fright and gain confidence in expressing themselves.

Adding vibrancy to the occasion, students from Gyan Mission presented a motivational cultural performance.

While I agree with the Governor's sentiment, I respectfully feel the emphasis on English proficiency is a double-edged sword. We must not let it overshadow the importance of mastering our mother tongues and regional languages. Confidence should come from expressing ideas in any language.

Absolutely correct! Disciplined and articulate youth are the real wealth of any nation. In today's competitive world, being able to communicate your thoughts clearly is half the battle won. Kudos to the NGO for this work.

As someone who has worked with youth in the Northeast, this is heartening to see. The cultural performance addition is lovely—it shows confidence isn't just about speeches, but expressing one's heritage proudly. More power to these students!

The focus on overcoming stage fright is so important. Many brilliant Indian students have ideas but hesitate to voice them. Initiatives like debate competitions can unlock so much potential. Hope this spreads pan-India.
