At least the Delhi government is taking some responsibility. But why does it always take a tragedy for authorities to act? The building collapse in Saket and fire in Malviya Nagar expose how poorly urban safety norms are followed. We need stronger enforcement, not just compensation after the fact.

As someone who lived in Delhi for five years, I've seen how quickly these illegal constructions go up in places like Saket. The compensation is welcome, but the root cause is corruption in the municipal corporation. Unless we fix the system, we'll keep seeing these headlines.

Salute to the police personnel and local residents who jumped into rescue operations without thinking twice. 🙏 The Rs 21,000 cheque is a token, but these people deserve lifelong recognition. Also, kudos to the CM for personally attending the event - shows she cares about ground realities. Let's hope this leads to real policy changes.

I'm glad the government is honoring the rescuers, but what about the families who lost their breadwinners? Rs 10 lakh is barely enough for a year's expenses in Delhi. And injured victims get only Rs 2 lakh? That's hardly adequate for medical bills. We need a more comprehensive disaster relief fund, not just ad-hoc announcements.

The two-minute silence was a nice touch. But honestly, the government should have announced a full inquiry into both incidents. Why did the building collapse? Was it an old structure or poor construction? Why did the fire spread so fast? Without accountability, we'll just repeat this cycle. Still, better
