DDA Cuts Public Grievance Pendency by 85% in Six Months

The Delhi Development Authority has cut its pending public grievance backlog by over 85% in the first half of the year, from 22,946 cases in January to 3,167 by June. A total of 19,779 grievances were resolved across multiple platforms, including CPGRAMS and LG Listening Post, following directives from Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu. The authority has strengthened its redressal mechanism with bi-weekly public hearings, where around 6,000 citizens visit monthly to interact with officials. Continuous monitoring and sensitization of officers by Vice Chairman N. Saravana Kumar have been key to ensuring timely resolution and improved accountability.

DDA cuts pendency of public grievances by 85 per cent in six months

New Delhi, Aug 1

Aligning with the instructions of Delhi Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu, the Delhi Development Authority has reduced the pendency of citizen's complainants and grievances by more than 85 per cent between January and June, an official said on Saturday.

From a total of 22,946 grievances at the beginning of this year, the number of pending complaints came down to 3,167 at the end of June, the official said in a statement.

Within the six-month period, DDA resolved a total of 19,779 grievances received across multiple platforms, including Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS), LG Listening Post, CM Jan Sunwai/Public Grievance Monitoring System (PGMS), Development Request Monitoring System (DRMS), Mobile 311 and Samasya Nidan Sewa, the statement said.

Earlier, the Lieutenant Governor, who is also the DDA Chairperson, directed officials to adopt transparent, responsive and accountable governance, ensuring that grievances are addressed promptly while substantially reducing the backlog of pending cases, the statement added.

Driven by the government's emphasis on transparency, accountability and public welfare, the DDA has strengthened its grievance redressal mechanism to ensure that public grievances are resolved in a time-bound manner, the statement said.

The Authority has adopted a system of continuous monitoring, regular reviews and greater institutional accountability.

As part of this public-centric approach, the DDA conducts bi-weekly public hearings on every working Monday and Thursday, where citizens can walk in to present their queries and grievances.

People can visit and interact directly with Deputy Directors and Directors (between 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.), and Commissioners and above (between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.) on these days without prior appointment.

On an average, around 6,000 people visit DDA every month during the public hearing days, the statement said.

"Officers across departments have been regularly sensitised by the DDA Vice Chairman, N. Saravana Kumar, to accord highest priority to grievance disposal, while cases are reviewed on a continuous basis through regular follow-up with the concerned departments and field units to ensure timely resolution and improved accountability, avoiding any undue pendency," it added.

My father had a land dispute with DDA for years! He visited multiple times without any resolution. Now with these bi-weekly hearings, at least there's a proper channel. The transparency push by LG Sandhu is commendable. 👏

Good to see government agencies becoming more responsive. But 3,167 complaints still pending - that's a lot. Hope they don't just close cases without properly addressing the issues. Need to keep pressure on enforcement.

Yeh toh badhiya initiative hai! DDA mein aaj tak koi sunwai nahi hoti thi. Ab directly Directors aur Commissioners se mil sakte hain bina appointment ke. Jaise Delhi mein infrastructure improve ho raha hai, waise hi administration bhi improve ho rahi hai. Lekin filhal to theek hai, dekhte hain aage kya hota hai! 🇮🇳

Impressive numbers. 19,779 cases resolved across CPGRAMS, LG Listening Post, CM Jan Sunwai, and Mobile 311 - it shows they're using technology effectively. But let's not just celebrate big numbers; the quality of resolution matters. With 6,000 people visiting monthly, there's clearly a high demand. Need continued focus on systematic improvements, not just clearing backlogs.

As someone who's been waiting for my DDA flat's paperwork for months, this is comforting. But I wish they'd also fix the online portal - it's still confusing. The public hearings are good but not everyone can take time off work on weekdays. Maybe add weekend timings too?
