CNG Price in Delhi Hits Rs 81 per kg, Third Hike in 10 Days

CNG price in Delhi was hiked by Rs 1 per kg to Rs 81.09, the third revision in 10 days. Petrol and diesel prices also rose nationally, with Delhi petrol reaching Rs 99.51 per litre. The hikes are driven by rising global crude oil prices and geopolitical tensions. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju defended the government's management of fuel prices amid criticism.

CNG prices in Delhi hiked by Rs 1, reaches Rs 81 per kg

New Delhi, May 23

Retail price of compressed natural gas was raised in the national capital by Rs 1 per kg on Saturday, marking the third revision in 10 days.

Price of CNG in New Delhi was raised to Rs 81.09 per kg from Rs 80.09 per kg, according to Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL).

Prices in neighbouring cities such as Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad have risen to Rs 89.70 per kg, and Gurugram to Rs 86.12 per kg.

The latest hike follows a Rs 2 per kg increase announced on May 15 and a Re 1 per kg rise on May 17.

The surge in CNG rates is expected to impact transport operators as well as commuters relying on gas-powered vehicles in the national capital, translating to rising household expenditure and logistics charges.

Petrol and diesel prices were also raised on Saturday by state-owned oil marketing companies, marking the third such increase in about 10 days.

Petrol became costlier by Rs 0.87 per litre, while diesel prices were raised by Rs 0.91 per litre. The latest hike comes amid sustained pressure from rising global crude oil prices and ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia, which continue to impact international energy markets.

In the national Capital, Delhi, petrol prices increased from Rs 98.64 to Rs 99.51 per litre, while diesel rose from Rs 91.58 to Rs 92.49 per litre, according to multiple reports. The uniform revision reflects a broader nationwide adjustment in fuel prices, affecting multiple cities nationwide.

In Kolkata, petrol prices touched Rs 110.64 per litre, while diesel has reached Rs 97.02 per litre after the latest hike.

In Mumbai, petrol has climbed to Rs 108.49 per litre and diesel to Rs 95.02 per litre.

Responding to criticism over rising fuel costs, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju had earlier this month said India has managed to limit the increase in petrol and diesel prices despite a sharp spike in global crude prices.

This is getting ridiculous. Rs 81 for CNG and petrol hitting Rs 99 in Delhi? Meanwhile, the government says "humne control kiya." 😡 Control kiya toh yeh hai? Inflation is eating our salaries. Why can't we reduce taxes on fuel like some other countries do?

I used to think CNG was the economical choice for families like mine in Noida. Now at Rs 89.70 per kg, it's almost as painful as petrol. Switched to auto and now auto walas are also hiking fares. What's the solution? 😩

The government keeps saying global prices are rising, but how many times can the common man bear these hikes? One thing is clear: if you live in Delhi NCR, every commute now costs more. Hope the authorities think about long-term relief instead of these frequent revisions. 🤔

Every time fuel prices rise, I see tiffin wale bhai log, delivery partners, and small shop owners struggling. This isn't just about personal cars—it affects the entire supply chain. Logistics cost badhega, toh sab kuch mehnga hoga. 😤 #CommonMan ka kya hoga

I am a student and rely on cabs for college. My travel budget has doubled in the last month alone. Every time prices go up, I honestly wonder—should I just buy a bicycle? 🚲 At least then the only fuel I'd need is breakfast! 😅
