Keralam, April 2
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Thursday, praised a Bharatiya Janata Party booth President from Wayanad, Vinita K.K., expressing confidence that she could outshine the constituency's MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in a public debate, while urging party workers across Kerala to intensify door-to-door outreach ahead of the state polls.
The Prime Minister interacted with booth-level BJP workers from Kerala under the 'Mera Booth Sabse Mazboot' programme via the NaMo App, urging them to strengthen grassroots outreach and expressing confidence in their ability to take on political opponents.
During the interaction, Prime Minister Modi spoke to several karyakartas, including Vinita K.K., a booth president from Mananthavady in Wayanad district.
Encouraging her efforts, PM Modi suggested that local media should organise a public debate between her and the sitting MP from Wayanad, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, expressing confidence that the BJP worker would perform strongly.
"I firmly believe you will give an even better speech than the sitting Congress MP (Priyanka Gandhi Vadra)," the Prime Minister said, highlighting the importance of confidence and preparation among grassroots workers.
Prime Minister Modi urged booth party workers to intensify their door-to-door campaigns and persuade voters to give the BJP and the NDA an opportunity in the upcoming state polls.
"You (People of Keralam) have given 75 years to Congress and the Communists. Give BJP and NDA five years," he said, asking BJP workers to share the party's governance record across states where it has been in power.
He also advised BJP workers to visit each voter at least three times before the polling in Kerala begins on April 9, stressing the need for consistent engagement to build trust and support.
Addressing the political landscape in Kerala, PM Modi accused both the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the Opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) of promoting corruption and communal politics.
"The LDF and UDF are not only spreading corruption and communalism, but they are also causing double harm to Kerala," he said.
Drawing an analogy from sports, the Prime Minister referred to Indian cricketer Sanju Samson as an inspiration to BJP workers.
PM Modi said, "Just as we saw (cricketer) Sanju Samson in the recent World Cup, as the tournament reached the knockout stage, his performance peaked on the strength of his game. From the beginning till the end, his focus, confidence, and intensity kept increasing continuously."
He noted that just as a sportsperson peaks during crucial moments in a tournament, BJP workers should increase their focus, confidence, and intensity as the election day approaches.
"As the day of voting comes closer, our (BJP workers') activity and outreach should become even stronger, reaching every household," PM Modi said, urging party cadre to remain committed and proactive.
The Prime Minister also claimed that there is a visible shift in public sentiment in Kerala.
"I have seen a distinct enthusiasm among the people of Kerala towards the BJP, and this is being described as a turning point in Kerala politics," he said.
He added that the pace of the election campaign indicates a desire for change.
"It is clear that Kerala has made up its mind not only for a new government but also for a new system," he remarked.
The interaction was part of BJP's ongoing efforts to energise its grassroots network in Kerala, where the party is seeking to expand its electoral footprint.
PM Modi also spoke with many party workers, including Dileep Kumar from Kondotty, Sreekumar V. from Adoor, and Anitha Kumari R. from Chirayinkeezhu, encouraging them to continue their efforts with dedication and confidence.
