Bankipur bypoll: BJP candidate Abhishek Kumar Sinha to file nomination today

Patna, July 9

The Bharatiya Janata Party has intensified its campaign for the Bankipur Assembly by-election, with its candidate Abhishek Kumar Sinha alias Bunty set to file his nomination papers on Thursday.

Several senior BJP and NDA leaders are expected to participate in the nomination programme, highlighting the party's focus on retaining the prestigious seat.

Prominent BJP leaders, including the party's national president Nitin Nabin and Bihar BJP President Sanjay Saraogi, are scheduled to attend the event. Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary is also likely to participate.

The presence of senior leaders is being viewed as a show of organisational strength ahead of the by-election.

According to the programme, Abhishek Kumar, who serves as the State Vice-President of the BJP Yuva Morcha, will begin his day by paying floral tributes at the statue of his political mentor and former MLA Navin Kishore Sinha at Navin Sinha Park in Shastri Nagar.

Following that, he will offer prayers at Hanuman Temple, Rajvanshi Nagar, Akhandvasini Temple, Golghar Park, and Kali Temple, Bans Ghat. He is scheduled to reach the Patna Collectorate to submit his nomination papers.

After filing his nomination, Bunty will address an 'Aashirwad Sabha' at the Scout and Guide Complex on Buddha Marg.

He will then visit the Mahavir Temple near Patna Junction before launching his public outreach campaign at 3:00 p.m.

BJP National President Nitin Nabin has arrived in Patna on a two-day visit to Bihar and is scheduled to participate in Abhishek's nomination programme.

The Bankipur constituency holds particular importance for the BJP, as Nitin Nabin represented the seat multiple times before becoming a Rajya Sabha member.

His elevation to the Upper House resulted in the vacancy that necessitated the current by-election.

The Bankipur by-election has emerged as one of Bihar's closely watched political contests.

The BJP's decision to mobilise senior leaders for Abhishek Kumar's nomination reflects the strategic importance of the constituency.

I understand the BJP wants to show strength, but what about the common issues in Bankipur? Potholes, waterlogging, and garbage dumping have been ignored for years. Let the candidate focus on these rather than just photo ops with big names. Just saying.

This is textbook BJP strategy—project a young face but back it with heavyweights. Abhishek Kumar himself has grassroots experience as State VP of Yuva Morcha. Let's see if he can connect with the electorate like his mentor Navin Kishore Sinha did. Bankipur is a prestige battle indeed.

BJP is making a big show of this nomination, but the real test will be at the polling booth. Bankipur has a mixed demographic—could be interesting. I just hope the by-election doesn't turn into a circus of personal attacks. Focus on development, please!

Interesting to see CM Samrat Chaudhary attending. It shows the party is backing Abhishek fully. But I recall that Nitin Nabin won by a comfortable margin last time—can a fresh face retain that legacy? Time will tell. Best of luck to the candidate! 👍

The line-up of leaders like Nitin Nabin and Sanjay Saraogi is impressive, but I hope the candidate actually has a vision for Bankipur beyond rituals and photo ops. We need better schools, healthcare, and employment opportunities in the area. Let's see if his Aashirwad Sabha focuses on these key issues.
