Along with Sarma, several ministers, including Rameswar Teli, Atul Bora, Charan Boro and Ajanta Neog, also took oath as members of the new Council of Ministers.

According to an official statement, the swearing-in ceremony turned into one of the largest political gatherings ever witnessed in Northeast India, reflecting Assam's growing prominence on the national stage.

The BJP-led NDA delivered a commanding performance in the 2026 Assam Assembly elections, securing a three-fourths majority. The alliance won 102 of the 126 Assembly seats, with both the AGP and BPF contributing 10 seats each.

In his victory speech, he credited the "double-engine" government led by Prime Minister Modi for Assam's rapid transformation over the past decade.

₹376 cr for a flyover? That's a lot of money! 😳 But if it really improves connectivity from Pragjyotishpur Medical College to NH-27, it might be worth it. Let's see if the traffic actually reduces or if it just shifts the bottleneck elsewhere.

Naming it after Syama Prasad Mookerjee is a nice touch — he was a visionary who gave his life for unity. But honestly, the CM should focus more on pothole-ridden roads in rural Assam rather than just these big city projects. Real development starts from the ground up!

Sixth consecutive term for Himanta — that's some political stability! 🙌 The 'double engine' govt is definitely delivering in Assam, with BJP winning 102 seats. But I'd like to see more transparency in these infrastructure costs. ₹376 cr seems steep for a flyover.

Good to see development in the Northeast finally getting attention. As someone from Assam, I feel the flyover will help medical college students and patients a lot. Just wish the govt would also fix the drainage system — Guwahati floods every monsoon! 🌧️
