Anu Aggarwal recalls shooting a love song with someone she barely knew

Anu Aggarwal reveals the challenge of filming a romantic song for Aashiqui with a co-star she barely knew and how she immersed herself in the role.

"Shooting a love song. With someone I barely knew-definitely not in love with. - Anu Aggarwal"

Mumbai, April 5

Actress Anu Aggarwal, on Sunday morning, took a trip down memory lane, recalling her experience of shooting a love song with 'someone she barely knew.'

The actor shared stills from one of her songs from her iconic film Aashiqui, and recalled umpteen number of memories.

Reflecting on the moment, Anu revealed how she had to perform intense romantic emotions despite not knowing the person who was her co-actor at the time.

The actress hasn't mentioned either the movie nor the actor she had been referring to.

She wrote, "The next day, I was back on set. Shooting a love song. With someone I barely knew-definitely not in love with. She wasn't me. She was a character. But I learned how to find what was real within me that matched the role-and give it to her. That's where building a character begins (sic)."

She added, And then you live her-in the smallest details: how she thinks, how she feels, even how she moves through everyday moments. I don't just love acting. It's my nature."

In a separate post shared on Saturday by Anu Aggarwal, she had also revealed another incident from the same phase of her life.

She had spoken about how deeply she had immersed herself into a scene that she ended up injuring her hand during the shoot

Despite the injury, the actress returned to the set the very next day, determined to continue working.

She wrote, "Some moments on screen... don't come from acting alone. On the sets of Aashiqui, I went so deep into the emotion that the line between performance and reality blurred. I injured my hand during that shot. In my twenties, living alone and finding my way, I was learning fast-about the work, and about myself.

She added, That's when I understood-I go all in. And I need to be aware of how deep I go. The next morning, I was back on set-on time. Doing my own hair and makeup. Once I commit, I deliver. And that hasn't changed.(sic)"

This is the professionalism we rarely see today. Shooting a love scene with a stranger and still delivering an iconic performance. Today's actors have so many workshops and still... *sigh*. Anu ma'am set a different standard.

As someone who studied theatre, this is such a profound insight into method acting from the Indian film context. "Finding what was real within me that matched the role" – that's the core of the craft anywhere in the world. Fascinating read.

Must have been Rahul Roy, no? The chemistry in Aashiqui was magical. It's hard to believe they barely knew each other. Goes to show what great direction and committed actors can achieve. 90s movies had a different soul.

While I admire the dedication, injuring yourself to the point where the line with reality blurs sounds a bit concerning. There should be a balance, na? Safety on set is important too. But her commitment is unquestionable.

"Doing my own hair and makeup" – this is the real stuff! No entourage of 10 people. Just pure passion for the work. We need more actors with this *jazbaa* today. Thanks for sharing this, brings back memories of that era.
