After FWICE's boycott Ranveer Singh offers prayers at the Chamundeshwari Temple
Mumbai, May 26
Actor Ranveer Singh, who is facing a boycott from FWICE, offered prayers at the Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysore after receiving direction from the Karnataka High Court to do so in the Kantara mimicry case.
It all started in November 2025, when, during the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India in Goa, Ranveer imitated the scene from "Kantara: Chapter 1" in which Chamundi daiva possesses Rishabh Shetty's character.
Ranveer's mimicry created quite an uproar, and complaints were filed against him for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. Following the controversy, Ranveer Singh issued an apology, saying, "My intention was to highlight Rishabh's incredible performance in the film. Actor to actor, I know how much it would take to perform that particular scene in the way that he did, for which he has my utmost admiration."
However, the matter did not end there. Another FIR was later filed, following which, in April, he submitted a revised affidavit along with an unconditional apology. Subsequently, the court ordered the 'Dhurandhar' actor to offer prayers at the Chamundeshwari Temple within four weeks.
Meanwhile, Ranveer's Chamudeshwari temple visit also comes a day after FWICE announced a non-Cooperation Directive (NCD) against him, following his sudden exit from "Don 3".
On this matter, speaking exclusively to IANS, FWICE Chief Advisor Ashoke Pandit alleged that Ranveer backed out of the project just three weeks before the entire crew was scheduled to leave for the shoot of Don 3.
He further revealed that they sent not one, not two, but three invitations to Ranveer to share his side of the story, but failed to get any response from him.
"And when we announced the press conference, we got an email from him saying that your federation doesn't fall into the jurisdiction of this entire matter. So, your body has no reason to get into this dispute," shared Ashoke Pandit.
Breaking his silence on the matter, Ranveer's Official spokesperson also shared a statement saying that he has the utmost regard for the film fraternity.
"Ranveer Singh holds the highest regard for the film fraternity and for everyone associated with the Don franchise. Throughout the recent developments surrounding Don 3, he has consciously chosen to maintain silence, believing that professional discussions and personal equations are best handled with dignity, maturity and mutual respect," read the statement.

What's next? Will FWICE ban every actor who leaves a project? Ranveer might have handled the Don 3 exit poorly but the Federation should focus on bigger issues than this. Also, the temple visit feels like a PR stunt more than genuine remorse.
I'm from Karnataka and let me tell you, Chamundeshwari is no joke. The daiva possession scene in Kantara is sacred to us. Ranveer should have known better. That said, he did apologize and visited the temple - time to move on. 🙏
As someone outside India, this whole thing seems overblown. But I understand India's sensitivity around religious content. The court order to visit a temple feels like a cultural solution to a legal problem. Interesting approach.
FWICE is acting like a school principal! 😂 Three invitations? Come on, Ranveer is a grown man, let him work. And the Don 3 exit - probably creative differences. Bollywood needs to stop these public dramas.
Respecting our deities is non-negotiable. But I appreciate that Ranveer didn't argue with the court and followed the order. The real issue is why actors think they can imitate anything without consequences. Chalo, at least he learned his lesson.
Interesting how Indian cinema and religion intersect. In Hollywood, this would just be a parody case. Here, it's a legal matter. The cultural differences are fascinating. Hope Ranveer reconciles with FWICE too.
