LOS ANGELES: lumasol, a new health tech player in the skincare industry, announced its introductory product: lumasol, a broad-spectrum SPF 50 mist that can be misted on post-makeup.

In a compact, sleek engine bottle, lumasol offers a lightweight and fast-absorbing broad-spectrum sunscreen allowing for all-day protection. lumasol's proprietary engine and wristband change colors when exposed to UV light, nudging consumers to reapply per the FDA recommended two-hour timeframe.

Sophia Hutchins, the visionary entrepreneur, founded the Silicon Valley venture backed company to help protect people from the sun due to two major challenges with sun exposure. Health-conscious people put on SPF in the morning but then forget to reapply. And, those who wear makeup often don't reapply SPF over makeup. lumasol solves each of these issues so people can safely enjoy more time outdoors. Last year, 40% of Americans reported getting a sunburn. Five or more sunburns doubles the risk of melanoma. lumasol's unique, translucent, and cruelty-free formula helps prevent sun-related disease and aging. Most importantly, it reminds people to reapply and makes reapplication simple. lumasol is water-resistant for 80 minutes and non-greasy to prevent unfriendly breakouts.

The sun is an integral part of our lives, boosting happy hormone levels, and vitamin D, but it also has its negative effects, says Sophia Hutchins, Founder, and CEO. Reapplication is so essential but it's the part that falls off. lumasol solves this to protect people and encourage protected sun exposure. While time outside these days is limited, we're still exposed to sunlight indoors, so it's important to keep a robust suncare routine. We believe that what lumasol offers will appeal to not just health and beauty-conscious consumers, but the general public as well, keeping them safe, healthy, and beautiful.

The lumasol starter kit is available now on the company website, starting at $49 for standalone purchase.

Each starter kit comes with

One reusable color-changing engine
Three glass 10 mL vials of translucent SPF 50 formula
Lanyard and a color-changing wristband for ease of portability

A three-refill replenishment kit option is available at $25 per month. The replenishment kit doesn't require mandatory monthly shipments. Instead, lumasol puts the power with consumers and offers total freedom to opt-in and out of replenishments as needed. For consumers who prefer the occasional one-time replenishment kit, the cost is $30.

In February 2019, lumasol received $3 million in seed funding from Pathfinder at Founders Fund and Greycroft Ventures to help build and support manufacturing, supply chain, and shipping efforts. For more information about lumasol, please visit mylumasol.com.
