Masala Dal Recipe
Ingredients:
• 1 Cup Split Red Lentil
• 6 Slit Green Chilies
• 1 Tbsp Chopped Coriander Leaves
• ½ Tsp Turmeric Powder
• ½ Cup Grated Coconut
• Salt To Taste
• 1 Tsp Mustard Seeds
• 1 Tsp Cumin Seed
• 2 Chopped Tomato
• 1 Tbsp Oil
• 2 Onions
• Salt to Taste
Method:
• Wash and soak the gram for 30 minutes.
• Grind the grated coconut with a little water to a smooth paste.
• Fry the sliced onions in heated oil till they become pinkish brown.
• Cook the gram in a pressure cooker with salt and just sufficient water to cook the dal.
• When the dal is cooked, remove the lid of the cooker and add green chilies, turmeric powder tomatoes and salt.
• Cook for 5 minutes.
• Add coconut paste and mix well.
• Cook for 2 minutes and remove from the flame.
• In heated oil, add mustard seeds and when they splutter, add cumin seeds.
• Fry for few seconds and pour over the dal.
• Garnish with fried onions and chopped coriander leaves.
