Irupathiyonnam Noottandu: Malayalam Movie Review

Irupathiyonnam Noottandu: Malayalam Movie Review
By Pradeep Peter, Kochi, January 30: A year after his debut, Pranav Mohanlal's second project as a hero came out with mixed response.

Appu (Pranav Mohanlal) a surfer lives with his parents in Goa. His father Baba (Manoj K Jayan) is a former gagster, who lost his 'charisma' and is out of work. The dad keeps telling the son to live a happy life. Appu happens to meet a girl named Saya during New Year's Eve at a party and the girl eventually becomes his love interest, and so it continues...

With so many references to some of the usually discussed topics around, writer and director Arun Gopy has presented a rather outdated story which has been packed with amplified lines and intensified music. With its 162 minute duration, this one seems to go on endlessly.

None of the characters were well-etched, a reason why even some of the fine actors ended up as caricatures.

The movie has lagging moments in first half and climax is average. Found nothing new in the script. But Pranav's action scenes are good. Goan scenes captured by Abinandhan Ramanujam is impressive. The importance of social media and the political controversy discussed by general public are being presented with satirical content.

After watching the trailer, I thought it would have some content; but end up in a dilemma to blame this experiment; bad acting, moderate scripting or vague direction.
