Reliance Jio introduces 'Kumbh JioPhone' app for pilgrims
The new Kumbh functionality will be available to both existing and new JioPhone users.
The Kumbh JioPhone will contain information on Kumbh, real-time travel information (special trains, buses etc.), booking tickets and receiving updates, 'Yatri Ashray' at stations, emergency helpline numbers, area routes and maps, pre-published bath and religious day schedules and railway camp mela, the statement added.
The new app has a family locator that will help users stay close to near and dear ones by finding their exact location. Another feature called 'Khoya Paya' (Lost and Found), helps users to reunite with their family and friends, in case they are not able to trace them.
There will be important news alerts and announcements in and around Kumbh at the fingertips of users.
The Kumbh JioPhone will also have devotional content such as the 'Kumbh Darshan' that ensures telecast of special Kumbh events and programs on JioTV along with previous archives of Kumbh Mela.
With the help of Kumbh Radio, there will be 24 X 7 access to devotional songs and hymns.
In the entertainment sector, there will be a daily Kumbh Quiz, where users can answer questions of their interests and win exciting prices.
Users can get to the Kumbh functionalities through the JioStore on the JioPhone. Moreover, Reliance Retail has created a special helpline number '1991' to answer queries on the JioPhone, the statement said.
"JioPhone is at the centre of innovation and the Kumbh JioPhone initiative continues to demonstrate our focus on bringing disproportionate and true value for the JioPhone consumers. We are proud of the fact that everyone in India can now get access to a smartphone at as low as Rs 501 with features and functionalities that are Made in India, Made for India and Made by India," a Jio spokesperson said.
Jio is working closely with the Uttar Pradesh Police and KASH IT Solutions Ltd to ensure a seamless experience for the pilgrims.
The 55-day long Kumbh Mela will start on January 15 and end on March 4. It is the largest human congregation in the world, with over 130 million pilgrims participate in the festival with the belief that taking a dip in the holy water of Ganga River will cleanse their sins.
