Launch of Medlock smart lockers
MONTREAL:
Benoit Picard and Karl Desjardins' Pharmacy is launching the MedlockMD service, a smart, safe, and private locker that gives employees the opportunity to get their medication at work with a same-day service.
This product comes in addition to Picard & Desjardins' complete online pharmacy service, which enables patients to avoid having to get to a pharmacy and waiting in lines. The MedlockMD service was designed to reduce the cost of medication and the financial contribution of businesses toward group insurance plans.
Ubisoft Montreal and two other large Canadian companies have already adhered to the MedlockMD service. Karl Desjardins, cofounder, states that employers are looking for original ways of distinguishing themselves to attract and retain talent. The MedlockMD service is part of our mission of efficiently controlling the cost of medication while offering our patients throughout Quebec a new pharmacy experience.
Benoit Picard & Karl Desjardins' Pharmacy 2.0 business model focusses on technology and economies of scale to reach its objectives in reducing the cost of medication. Since this is a mail-order pharmacy, it sidesteps any fixed fees tied to the management of retailing. In addition, the use of generics is encouraged and the Pharmacy offers a service for recurring medication every three months, when appropriate, thus reducing professional fees associated with monthly services.
Entirely developed in Quebec by Benoit Picard & Karl Desjardins' Pharmacy, the MedlockMD service is now offered to all major employers, office towers, and other commercial buildings in the province of Quebec. Benoit Picard, cofounder, explains that in the end, we hope to set up MedlockMD pickup points in locations most frequented by our patients.
A MedlockMD locker is installed on the company's premises. Employees can, when ordering their medication online, choose at which MedlockMD pickup point they want their medication to be delivered at no additional cost. Workers and their families also have access to pharmacists' full service, including answering questions patients may have regarding their health or pharmaceutical record.
When not in the workplace, Pharmacy patients continue to receive 24-48-hour delivery service at home or wherever they choose in the province of Quebec.
