Friday May 24 kicks off the 2019 Design Hudson Weekend Festival

HUDSON, N.Y: The Design Hudson Weekend Festival celebrates a wide range of local design talent showcased within the city's unique architectural gems, including private historic homes and the spectacular Dr. Oliver Bronson House.

The weekend includes Designer Home Tours and talks exploring the 21st century view of the palette and landscape that defined the 19th century Hudson River School painters, Thomas Cole and Frederic Church, in the theme, The New Hudson River School.

Friday, May 24 - Sunday, May 26
The seldom-open national historic landmark, with exquisite Federal Style 19th Century architectural elements, will be imbued with contemporary decor, antiques, paintings and creativity from Hudson antique dealers, galleries, home furnishing stores and artisans.

HUDSON HOME TOURS, Saturday, May 25 - Sunday, May 26
Designer Showcase Home Tours feature design installations in architecturally-significant properties by Alan Barlis of BarlisWedlick, Geoff Howell, Amy Row and Sherry Jo Williams of culture+commerce project.

Tickets are available online, and at 442 Warren Street starting Friday May 24.

Join us for a discussion of The New Hudson River School's influences of color, landscape and time period from Hudson's great painters, Church and Cole, to contemporary artists, as illustrated in its concurrent exhibition Hudson Athens Lights. In collaboration with Olana State Historic Site of Frederic Church and Thomas Cole National Historic Site.

Shops along Warren Street and beyond, including 50 antique stores, 30 art galleries, 25 home furnishing stores, 25 clothing and jewelry stores offer patrons unique selections of products and services from proprietor owned and run businesses. The festival continues into Saturday evening with stores and venues hosting events highlighting the creativity and design resources in Hudson.

Hudson is located on the Hudson River, 110 miles north of New York City. Hudson was settled in 1785 by Quaker whalers and merchants from Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard attracted to the deep water port. The finest dictionary of American architecture in New York State, with hundreds of properties listed or eligible to be listed in the State and National registers of historic places. Hudson's thriving residential population of 6,713, expands to 20,000 on many weekends.
