Zayed Khan recently reminisced about his breakthrough role as Lucky in the 2004 film "Main Hoon Na" as the movie completed 21 years. The actor revealed how the character fundamentally transformed his career and left an indelible mark on Bollywood's pop culture. Working alongside Shah Rukh Khan and under Farah Khan's direction was a pivotal moment in his professional journey. Mumbai, April 30

As Shah Rukh Khan's 'Main Hoon Na' marks its 21st release anniversary on Wednesday, Zayed Khan, who played Lucky in the movie reflected on how the film changed his life 360 degrees.

Claiming that looking back at "Main Hoon Na" after 21 years is surreal, Zayed said, "Lucky was my breakthrough role, a character that changed everything for me. The way fans still come up to me and call me 'Lucky' or 'Laxman' or mimic those classy lines, or even do my signature swag move, it's incredibly humbling. Working with Shah Rukh Sir and under Farah Khan's direction was a masterclass in filmmaking that shaped my entire career. Lucky's rebellious spirit, his transformation, and his iconic style, especially my look, with the long hair and highlights, baggy pants, vest, and open shirts, everything became a large part of pop culture."

He stressed that no matter what the future holds for him, Lucky will always have a special place in his heart.

"Two decades later, I can honestly say that no matter what roles I take on, Lucky will always hold a special place in my heart. That film wasn't just my entry into Bollywood, it was my entry into the hearts of audiences. 21 years later, I'm still grateful for all the love and may it keep coming in leaps and bounds," Zayed concluded.

"Main Hoon Na" which is Farah Khan's directorial debut has been backed by Gauri Khan and Ratan Jain under the banners Red Chillies Entertainment and Venus Movies.

The film revolves around the life of Major Ram Prasad Sharma who is sent on a covert mission to pose as a college student and protect the general's daughter from a dangerous rogue soldier. During the mission, he also tries to mend relations with his father's estranged first wife and his half-brother Lakshman.

Released on April 30, 2004, "Main Hoon Na" turned out to be the second highest-grossing Indian film of 2004, after another Shah Rukh Khan-starrer "Veer-Zaara"

Main Hoon Na was a complete paisa vasool entertainer! Zayed's Lucky was the perfect foil to SRK's Major Ram. That college fight scene where Lucky joins his brother is still one of my favorite Bollywood moments. Can't believe it's been 21 years already! 😍

The chemistry between SRK and Zayed was amazing. That emotional scene where they realize they're brothers still gives me goosebumps. But honestly, I wish Zayed had capitalized more on this success - he had so much potential after this film.

Main Hoon Na was peak early 2000s Bollywood - great music, over-the-top action, and that signature Farah Khan style. Zayed's swag as Lucky was iconic, though I feel his character was a bit overshadowed by SRK's star power. Still, what a fun trip down memory lane!

The fashion in this movie! 😂 Zayed's highlights and those baggy pants were EVERYTHING back then. My college friends and I all tried to copy that look. The film still holds up surprisingly well - the comedy, emotions, and action all balanced perfectly.

While I appreciate Zayed's nostalgia, I wish he had shown more range after this film. He got typecast as the 'cool dude' and never really broke out of that mold. But credit where it's due - Lucky was indeed a memorable character that defined an era of Bollywood.

This movie was my childhood! I must have watched it at least 20 times. The songs, the bromance, the comedy - everything was perfect. Zayed brought such energy to Lucky's character. "Tumse milke dil ka jo haal hua" still plays in my head randomly! ❤️
