Wrong of him to give such a message after losing: Maharashtra Dy CM Ajit Pawar on Rahul Gandhi's vote theft allegations

Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar criticizes Rahul Gandhi's vote theft allegations as "wrong" after election losses, calling it a harmful message to the public.

"It is very wrong to give such a message after losing... - Ajit Pawar"

Nagpur, September 20

Reacting to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's allegations over vote theft, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar stated that it was "wrong" of him to give such a message after losing.

"Rahul Gandhi is the opposition leader. His party, the Congress, has functioned as the ruling party in this country for many years. The public decides who to elect. It is very wrong to give such a message after losing..." Pawar told ANI.

The remarks come a day after Rahul Gandhi said that India's Gen-Z would play an important role in protecting the Constitution and democracy, and pledged to support them in their fight against alleged "vote theft."

Rahul Gandhi posted on X, "The Youth of the Country The Students of the Country The Gen Z of the Country Will save the Constitution, protect democracy, and stop vote theft. I always stand with them. Jai Hind!"

This comes amid his fresh allegations of an attempt at vote theft in Karnataka's Aland constituency before the 2023 assembly polls.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, he claimed that there was an attempt to delete more than 6,000 voters' names from the Aland constituency in Karnataka.

"In Aland, Karnataka, 6018 votes, somebody tried to delete these votes. We don't know the total number of votes deleted in 2023 elections, but somebody got caught. It was caught, by most crimes, by coincidence. What happened was that the Booth Level officer noticed that her uncle's vote had been deleted," he said.

The Lok Sabha LoP further alleged that the Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar, is "protecting vote chors" and is fully aware of how fraud is occurring in the deletion and addition of fake voters to the voter list. He stated that he has "10 per cent proof" that the Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is "protecting vote chors (vote thieves).

Speaking on the protests in Nepal, Pawar said that the same should not have happened, further stating that all should unite and work together.

"What happened in Nepal was wrong. I say that this should not happen in any country in the world. There should be unity. Everyone should work together..." he said.

But we cannot ignore that voter list manipulation does happen in some constituencies. I remember during state elections in my area, many genuine voters found their names missing. EC needs to be more transparent 🤔

Rahul Gandhi should provide concrete evidence instead of making vague allegations. "10% proof" is not enough to accuse constitutional authorities. This kind of rhetoric undermines our democratic institutions.

Actually, youth should be concerned about electoral integrity. If 6000 votes were indeed deleted in one constituency, that's serious! We need better systems to prevent such issues. Democracy depends on fair elections 🗳️

Both sides have points. Opposition should raise genuine concerns respectfully, and ruling party should address them seriously instead of dismissing outright. Healthy democracy needs this balance.

As someone following Indian politics from outside, I think electoral reforms are needed worldwide. India's EVM system is actually more advanced than many countries, but transparency in voter lists could be improved.
