New Delhi, December 31

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta extended New Year wishes to city residents on wednesday and said that they will enter this new year with a vision of 2047 for the capital.

While extending New Year wishes, the Delhi Chief Minister highlighted several developmental works carried out by the government throughout 2025. She said that in Delhi, treatment up to ₹10 lakh was made free for people under the Ayushman scheme. She also mentioned that under Atal Canteen initiative, a full meal is provided for ₹5, and this move she said, was widely appreciated by poor workers.

The Chief Minister added that several schemes were approved for infrastructure development and that significant progress was made in improving the city's Ease of Doing Business.

"2025 is passing and 2026 is coming. What did we lose, what did we gain? New responsibilities, new challenges and a lot of opportunities to work were received in 2025. Some people tried to keep things entangled in AQI and AIQ, but it wasn't enough. Beyond this, the government did many such works for which Delhi was waiting for a long time. The new education bill in Delhi, so that parents don't have to pay heavy fees. In Delhi, treatment up to 10 lakhs was made free for the people through Ayushman. Atal Canteen: Full meal for ₹5, which was liked most by every poor worker, my brothers and sisters. Many schemes were approved for the development of infrastructure in Delhi. Work was done on ease of doing business," said CM Rekha Gupta.

She further addressed the environmental challenges facing the National Capital, noting the persistent poor air quality in the city. Talking about the environmental actions taken by the government, Gupta claimed that they have stopped stubble burning in the city and have installed the first biogas plant in the city.

"If I tell from the environmental point of view, what people felt most about what happened for the environment this year, the work of end-to-end carpeting of roads started, new machinery was used so that better cleaning can be done. We completely stopped stubble burning in Delhi and many things that were better for the environment were started. All these works are just a beginning. Many works are still to be done. Delhi has so many problems, so many legacy problems, all of them have to be solved. And 2025 was just a preparation and in 2026, all those works have to be taken to their destination, further forward. The first biogas plant we started in Delhi, many more biogas plants are to be built today. There is a need to build a plant for our e-waste, for which we have now started the process," said Gupta.

In her video message, Delhi Chief Minister further promised to remove mountains of garbage from various parts of the city.

"Garbage is in many places in Delhi, there are mountains of garbage, they have to be ended. Work has to be done on it in a better way. Those who created mountains of garbage, today when they talk about ending the mountains of garbage, I want to answer them that in 2026, these mountains of Delhi's garbage will end. And work will also continue on others. Together, we will join Delhi with the 2047 vision. We will do all those works for Delhi which are in the hearts of the people of Delhi, the solution to the problems that Delhi wants, we will definitely do. I congratulate you all that 2026 brings a new morning in all of your lives, brings new happiness. And Delhi Government and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is with you, always," added Gupta.

Free treatment up to ₹10 lakh is a huge relief for middle-class families like mine. Medical expenses were our biggest worry. If the government can actually solve the garbage mountain problem in 2026, it will be a massive achievement. Fingers crossed! 🤞

Stopping stubble burning in Delhi? That's a bold claim. Every winter we choke on smog. I'll believe it when I can actually breathe clean air in November. The biogas plant is a good start, but the real test is during the crop burning season.

As someone who runs a small business here, the focus on Ease of Doing Business is very welcome. The bureaucratic hurdles can be exhausting. If they can streamline processes, it will really help the economy grow. The 2047 vision should have a strong economic pillar.

The ₹5 meal is a blessing for daily wage workers. My heart feels so happy knowing no one in our city should sleep hungry because of cost. This is real seva. Hope the quality is maintained across all canteens. 🙏

Infrastructure development and cleaning up garbage mountains are long overdue. The Ghazipur landfill is a national shame. Promises are good, but we need to see bulldozers and compactors on the ground, not just in video messages. Action speaks louder than words.
