Mega Star Chiranjeevi confirms his socio-fantasy film Vishwambhara, directed by Vassishta and starring Trisha, will release summer 2026 due to extensive VFX work.

"The entire second half of the film depends heavily on VFX and graphics - Chiranjeevi"

Chennai, Aug 21

Mega Star Chiranjeevi on Thursday announced that his long- awaited socio-fantasy entertainer 'Vishwambhara', directed by Vassishta, will certainly hit screens in the summer of 2026.

In a video clip released by the film's makers on the day before the Telugu star was to celebrate his birthday, Chiranjeevi addressed public curiosity about the film’s delay. He explained that the entire second half of the film depends heavily on VFX and graphics, and the makers are taking extra time to ensure the best quality output is presented to audiences. This commitment to high-quality visual effects is the prime reason for the postponement.

Chiranjeevi described Vishwambhara as a wonderful story reminiscent of Chandamama, saying it will appeal to children and to the child in every grown-up individual. He mentioned that the makers had planned to release a glimpse later on Thursday and confirmed the film would hit screens in the summer of 2026, noting that children love the summer season.

Vishwambhara is the dream project of director Vassishta, who impressed audiences and critics with his debut film Bimbisara—also known for its strong visual effects. The film features Trisha Krishnan as the female lead, with Ashika Ranganath in a pivotal role and Kunal Kapoor in the cast. Chota K Naidu has cranked the camera, while production designer AS Prakash has intricately crafted the world of Vishwambhara.

Backed by the renowned UV Creations, the film has been mounted on a grand scale with no compromise on quality or creativity. Producers Vikram, Vamsi, and Pramod are reportedly sparing no expense to ensure Vassishta’s vision is fully realized. The film presents a grand canvas blending mythology, emotion, and cinematic spectacle, and boasts a stellar technical crew under Vassishta’s written and directed guidance.

Chandamama reference got me so nostalgic! ❤️ This sounds perfect for family viewing. Trisha and Chiranjeevi combo is unexpected but exciting. Hope they maintain that magical storytelling like old Telugu classics.

2026 is too long a wait yaar! But if the VFX is going to be Bahubali-level, then it's worth it. UV Creations never compromises on budget so expecting something spectacular 🔥

Respectfully, I hope the story doesn't get lost in all the VFX spectacle. Many Indian films focus too much on visuals and forget good storytelling. Bimbisara had a good balance though, so hopeful!

Ashika Ranganath and Kunal Kapoor in supporting roles - interesting casting! Hope this gives a boost to pan-India appeal. Indian mythology + modern VFX could be our answer to Hollywood fantasy films 💫
