As someone who visited Uttarkashi last year, this news is devastating. The locals are such warm people. Hope the government provides immediate relief funds and rehabilitation. Climate change is making these disasters more frequent - we need long-term solutions.

While I appreciate the quick response, why do we always wait for disasters to happen? Uttarakhand needs permanent disaster management infrastructure, not just reactive measures. The Char Dham road project has already made the hills more vulnerable.

The road closures will affect local economy badly. Many families depend on tourism and pilgrimage traffic. Hope the government announces special package for affected businesses along with rescue operations.

Is there any way civilians can help? Maybe through verified NGOs? The pictures coming from the area are terrifying. Wishing strength to all affected families and gratitude to the rescue teams working tirelessly.
