Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday participated in a programme held at the Chief Minister's Camp Office, where an amount of Rs 12 crores 89 lakh 85 thousand was transferred through Direct Benefit Transfer into the bank accounts of 4,224 beneficiary workers under various schemes of the Uttarakhand Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated special assistance facilities for workers at 191 Common Service Centres (CSCs) across the state. "These centres will provide easy access to information related to welfare schemes, registration, renewal and other essential services for workers"

While DBT is good, I hope the registration process at these CSCs is truly simple and doesn't require a dozen documents. Often, the most needy workers struggle with paperwork. The government must ensure these centres have helpful staff, not just a computer terminal.

Rs 51 crores in six months is a significant amount reaching the grassroots. The focus on skill training is crucial. A construction worker today can become a certified mason or electrician tomorrow, which means better wages and long-term security. Good step forward!

My father was a construction worker. I've seen the struggle firsthand. If these CSCs work as promised, it will be a blessing. No more standing in long queues in the sun. Hope this brings some "aasan" (ease) into their hard lives. 🙏

Interesting to see the scale of welfare support. The article mentions "financial security and a dignified standard of living" - that's the core of any social security net. The digital infrastructure (CSCs) seems key to making it accessible in remote hill areas.

Accountability is important. They should have a transparent portal where any citizen can see how many workers are registered in each block, the funds disbursed, and the schemes availed. Sunshine is the best disinfectant. The intent is good, but execution and transparency will define success.
