"One Nation, One Election is necessary for the country... frequent elections waste time and halt development - Pushkar Singh Dhami"

Dehradun, May 2

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday participated in a conference on 'One Nation-One election' in Dehradun.

Speaking to mediaperons CM Dhami said, "One Nation, One Election is necessary for the country. Under the leadership of PM Modi, many big decisions have been taken. Due to frequent elections, both time and resources are wasted, and it halts the developmental works..."

Meanwhile, CM Dhami also attended Kedarnath doors opening ceremony.

CM Dhami also distributed prasad to the devotees at the Mukhya Sevak Bhandara organised at the Kedarnath premises. He stated that the Badrinath doors will open on May 4.

"The state government is fully prepared to welcome devotees from all over the country," the minister said, adding, "The state government continuously monitors the pilgrimage at every level. Various basic facilities have also been established on the pilgrimage routes. The Char Dham Yatra is also the lifeline of the state. This pilgrimage is a means of livelihood for millions of people," he said.

The Chief Minister further assured that the state government is determined to ensure that the Char Dham Yatra continues throughout the year, for which winter pilgrimage has also been started.

Dhami confirmed that Rs 2000 crores have been allotted for "the reconstruction work of Kedarnath." Additionally, the central government has approved the installation of the Gaurikund to Kedarnath ropeway.

Earlier, while addressing the gathering on the occasion, CM Dhami said that the Char Dham Yatra commenced on April 30, and two days after May 2, the doors of Badrinath Dham will also open for devotees.

He emphasised that the government has ensured a safe journey for the devotees and has made appropriate arrangements to avoid problems.

One Nation-One Election makes complete sense! The amount of money and time wasted in frequent elections is insane. Development work suffers every time elections come around. Kudos to CM Dhami for supporting this initiative 🙏 #GoodGovernance

While I appreciate the focus on Char Dham development, I hope they maintain the spiritual essence of these sacred places. Too much commercialization can spoil the divine atmosphere. The ropeway is convenient but let's not make it another tourist spot.

Uttarakhand is setting an example for religious tourism! The ₹2000 crore investment in Kedarnath will boost infrastructure while preserving our heritage. Jai Baba Kedar! 🚩 But hope the funds are used transparently - we've seen corruption in such projects before.

The winter pilgrimage initiative is brilliant! Many devotees want to visit during off-season but couldn't due to harsh weather. With better facilities now, Uttarakhand can attract tourists year-round. My parents visited last winter and had a wonderful experience.

One Nation-One Election sounds good in theory but how will it work with hung assemblies? Also, state issues often differ from national ones. We shouldn't rush into this without proper debate. The government should first focus on electoral reforms.

As someone from Uttarakhand, I'm happy to see our CM balancing development and devotion. The improved facilities during Char Dham Yatra have made a huge difference for locals and pilgrims alike. Just hope the environmental impact is properly assessed before big projects.
