"Those involved in this dastardly act of terror will not be spared. – Amit Shah"

Pahalgam, April 23

As the nation comes to terms with the devastating loss during the terror attack at Pahalgam on Tuesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday arrived at the Baisaran meadow, the site of the attack that claimed the lives of innocent tourists, sending shockwaves across the nation.

The Union Home Minister arrived at the terror site by helicopter, descending onto the meadow now bearing the scars of violence.

The security in the region had been heightened as army personnel arrived at the meadow in Pahalgam.

Earlier today, in the aftermath of the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid his tribute to the victims of the attack by laying a wreath in a poignant ceremony outside the Police Control Room in Srinagar.

Shah also met with the families of the victim members. Their faces etched with profound sorrow, pleading with the Home Minister, as they quivered with grief, expressing the depth of their pain following the tragic loss of their loved ones in the attack.

Congress MP KC Venugopal and Jammu-Kashmir Congress President Tariq Hameed Karra also paid tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack during the ceremony.

The attack, which unfolded on Tuesday in the picturesque Pahalgam area of Anantnag district, turned a place once known for its tranquillity into a site of mourning. The attack was one of the biggest terror attacks in the region after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.

Political parties as well as traders' unions in the region today collectively called for a complete shutdown in the Kashmir valley in solidarity with the victims' families and condemnation of the attack.

Earlier, on Tuesday, the Union Home Minister chaired a high-level security meeting with all the agencies following the Pahalgam terror attack after he reached Srinagar in the evening yesterday. He said earlier that those involved in this dastardly act of terror will not be spared.

While I appreciate the Home Minister's visit, I wish we saw more concrete security measures before these attacks happen rather than symbolic visits after. Prevention is better than reaction.

The shutdown shows how united Kashmiris are against terrorism. These attacks hurt tourism which is the lifeline of so many families there. Stay strong Pahalgam!

Can't imagine the pain of those families meeting Shah today. No words can comfort such loss. Hope the perpetrators are brought to justice soon.

Visited Baisaran meadow last year - such a peaceful place. Shocking to see it in the news like this. Security forces are doing their best but need better intelligence.

The image of Amit Shah meeting grieving families really got to me. Beyond politics, these are real human tragedies. Hope this leads to meaningful change in security strategy.
