It's good to see leaders across party lines paying respects. In today's bitter political climate, this show of unity in remembering a public figure is heartening. He may have had political ups and downs, but his connection with the people was genuine.

The 2011 election performance was historic. For a new party to become the principal opposition was no small feat. It showed the "Captain wave" was real. Sad to see how the party declined later. A lesson in political management.

While the tributes are respectful, it's also important to remember the complexities. His political journey, especially the alliance shifts, left many of his supporters confused. A charismatic figure, but perhaps not the most consistent strategist.

My father was a huge fan of his movies. The action sequences were iconic! It's rare to see a star transition to politics and actually command that level of initial respect. His on-screen persona of fighting for justice resonated with people off-screen too.

The fact that he is remembered fondly by leaders from DMK, BJP, and his own party speaks volumes about his character. In Tamil Nadu politics, that's quite an achievement. May his family find strength.
