Associated with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), he served as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu five times and held his position from 1969 to 1971, 1971 to 1976, 1989 to 1991, 1996 to 2001, and 2006 to 2011.

Known for his oratory skills, Karunanidhi worked for the rights of Tamil-speaking people and focused on social justice and upliftment of the marginalised.

He passed away on August 7, 2018, at the age of 94, after a prolonged illness.

While I respect Karunanidhi's contributions, I wish current politicians would focus more on implementing his vision rather than just ceremonial tributes. Tamil Nadu needs action on ground level issues.

As someone who grew up in the 90s, I remember how Karunanidhi sir's policies helped my family get access to education. His schemes for backward classes changed lives. #TrueLeader

Visiting Chennai last year, I was amazed to see how respected Karunanidhi is even years after his passing. His memorial at Marina Beach is truly impressive. Shows the impact he had on Tamil culture.

"Everything for Everyone" - what a powerful vision! But I wonder if today's politicians truly understand the depth of this philosophy. Kalaignar was a rare combination of scholar and statesman.

His speeches used to give me goosebumps! Even at 90+, his command over Tamil language was unmatched. We've lost not just a politician but a literary giant. இனி அவரைப் போல் யார்? (Who else like him now?)
