Karnataka LoP R Ashoka writes to NHRC seeking probe into Bengaluru stampede

Bengaluru, June 12: Karnataka Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka has written a letter to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) seeking urgent intervention and a comprehensive probe into the recent stampede in Bengaluru during the IPL victory celebration of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), which claimed 11 lives and injured at least 75 people.

Bengaluru, June 5: Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara, on Thursday, inspected the site of the stampede at the Chinnaswamy stadium. The stampede had killed 11 people and injured several. The Home Minister said that the state government had not asked the Royal Challengers Bangalore or the Karnataka Cricket Association to organise the victory celebrations at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
