Vision of PM Modi to see Diu as hotspot for Beach Games in India: Mansukh Mandaviya

New Delhi, May 24: Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya congratulated Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu for hosting the first Khelo India Beach Games. The Games which started on May 19, officially concluded on Saturday. The closing ceremony was staged at the INS Khukri Memorial in Diu, as per an official statement.

Two and a half decades later, Jimi, 38, stands tall as one of the senior-most players in Sepak Takraw at the inaugural Khelo India Beach Games in Diu.

Diu, May 22: Maharashtra’s Diksha Yadav continued her exploits at the inaugural Khelo India Beach Games, sweeping both gold medals on offer in the Open Sea Swimming event. The 19-year-old from Maharashtra picked up the yellow metal in both 10km and the 5km events at Ghoghla Beach on Thursday morning. In the men’s 5km open swim for men, Karnataka’s Drupad Ramakrishna won gold.

Khelo India Beach Games kick off in Diu, PM Modi calls it a watershed moment

Diu, May 19: The first-ever Khelo India Beach Games began on Monday at Ghoghla Beach in Diu, with more than 1,350 athletes from over 30 states and Union Territories taking part. The event was inaugurated by Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and is being organised by the Sports Authority of India along with the administration of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.
