Speaking on the development, Atul Patne, Principal Secretary of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra, said, "Maharashtra has always been at the forefront of shaping India's cultural and entertainment economy and music is a vital part of that vision. By bringing landmark experiences like the Sunburn Festival to Mumbai, we are actively building a robust music tourism ecosystem, one that attracts global attention, fuels local enterprise and positions our state as a thriving destination for next-generation cultural experiences."

Launched in 2007, Sunburn was originally held in Vagator, Goa. Later, it shifted to Pune from 2016 to 2018 before returning to Goa. And now, fans will witness the new edition in Mumbai. In recent years, the festival, long associated with Goa, has faced growing public backlash and increasing bureaucratic challenges. Now, it's to be seen whether relocation of the festival works in favour of organisers or not.

More details regarding the headliners are yet to be disclosed.

As a Goan, I'm actually relieved. Sunburn had become too commercial and was ruining our peaceful beaches. The trash left behind every year was shameful. Maybe Mumbai's better equipped to handle such large-scale events.

Ticket prices will probably double now that it's in Mumbai. The Goa edition had that perfect balance of affordability and experience. Worried this will become another elite-only event like most things in Maximum City.

Interesting move! As an expat who's attended both Goa and Pune editions, I'm curious how Mumbai will pull this off. The city's energy is unmatched but space constraints might be challenging. Hope they choose a good venue.

Government is only seeing $$$. What about the noise pollution and traffic chaos this will create? Mumbai roads can't handle regular traffic, forget festival crowds. Bad decision in my opinion.

Sunburn in Mumbai beaches won't have the same charm as Goa's open spaces. But if this means better security and facilities, I'm all for it! After the recent incidents, safety should be top priority.
