Shooting for actor Pranav Mohanlal's horror film #NSS2 wrapped up

Pranav Mohanlal's new horror thriller #NSS2 has completed shooting, exciting fans with its rapid production timeline. The film is directed by Rahul Sadasivan, who previously created the critically acclaimed Brammayugam. Shooting took place in Vadakara, with the production team managing to wrap up in just 40 days. The movie reunites several key talents from the successful Mammootty-starrer Brammayugam, including cinematographer Shehnad Jalal and art director Jothish Shankar.

Chennai, April 30

Director Rahul Sadasivan's eagerly awaited horror thriller, tentatively being referred to as #NSS2 and featuring actor Pranav Mohanlal in the lead, has now been wrapped up, its makers announced on Wednesday.

Taking to their Instagram timelines, All Night Shifts and Y Not Studios, the firms that are producing the film, said, "It’s a Wrap for #NSS2! Starring @pranavmohanlal. Written & Directed by @rahul_madking. Produced By @chakdyn @sash041075. Banner @allnightshifts @studiosynot."

#NSS2, which features Mohanlal's son Pranav Mohanlal in the lead, has triggered huge interest because of the people making it. The horror-thriller is being made by the same team that made the Malayalam cult classic, ‘Brammayugam’, featuring Malayalam superstar Mammootty in the lead.

It may be recalled that #NSS2 went on floors only in the last week of March this year. Shooting for the film took place at Vadakara in Calicut. What is interesting to note is that sources had claimed that the makers had plans to complete shooting the entire film in a matter of just 40 days. Now it looks like they have managed to complete the shooting of the film well ahead of schedule.

Shehnad Jalal, whose work in ‘Brammayugam’ came in for much critical acclaim, is the cameraman of this new film. Similarly, art direction for the new film is by the art director of ‘Bramayugam’, Jothish Shankar. Editing is by Shafique Mohammed Ali. Ali had also worked as the editor of ‘Bramayugam’.

Director Rahul Sadasivan's ‘Bramayugam’ was a critically acclaimed superhit film. It was a period horror flick that was set in Kerala's dark ages. The story of the film primarily revolved around three male characters and was shot in black and white. Apart from Mammootty, ‘Bramayugam’ also starred Sidharth Bharathan, Arjun Ashokan and Amalda Liz. The film had dialogues by Malayalam novelist TD Ramakrishnan, best known for his novel Francis Itty Cora.

Exciting news! Brammayugam was a masterpiece, so expectations are sky-high for NSS2. Hope Pranav Mohanlal can carry forward his father's legacy with this one. The 40-day shoot schedule shows their confidence in the script. Fingers crossed! 🤞

As a Malayali, I'm so proud to see our industry pushing boundaries in horror genre. Brammayugam's black-and-white treatment was brilliant. Hope NSS2 brings something equally innovative. But I wonder if shooting in just 40 days might compromise quality?

The entire Brammayugam team reuniting is the real USP here! Shehnad Jalal's cinematography was hauntingly beautiful. But let's not put too much pressure on Pranav - he's still finding his feet as an actor. Hope the script plays to his strengths.

Horror films from South India have been killing it lately! After Brammayugam, Tumbbad and Pizza, expectations are high. The Vadakara location sounds perfect for eerie atmosphere. Can't wait for the teaser! Hope they don't reveal too much in promotions though.

While I'm excited, I hope this isn't just riding on Brammayugam's success. Originality matters! Also, Malayalam cinema should focus more on fresh faces rather than star kids. That said, Rahul Sadasivan has earned my trust as a director.

The speed of production is impressive but makes me nervous. Good horror needs perfect timing and atmosphere - hope they didn't rush things. That said, the team's track record gives me hope. Also curious about the 'NSS' title meaning! Any theories?
