Priti Adani urges a unified collaboration platform to multiply social impact

Adani Foundation Chair calls for unified action among philanthropists to multiply social impact through co-building partnerships and shared learning platforms.

"We must be co-builders, not just donors. Real change happens when we work as partners - Dr. Priti Adani"

Hong Kong, September 9

At the AVPN Global Conference 2025 in Hong Kong, Dr Priti Adani, Chairperson of the Adani Foundation, delivered a stirring appeal to philanthropists, businesses and changemakers: "Don't just give. Build together."

In her keynote, Dr Adani emphasised that the next leap for social development depends on collaboration and on bringing every philanthropic institution, NGO and partner onto a single platform where efforts are aligned, learnings are shared, and impact is multiplied. Dr Adani reminded the audience that the true strength of philanthropy is not in isolated contributions but in unified action. "We must be co-builders, not just donors. Real change happens when we work as partners -- pooling resources and breaking down silos."

She called for a collaboration platform where philanthropists across the world can move beyond numbers, focusing instead on the human stories of dignity, resilience and transformation, saying, "Impact is never about numbers. It is about the stories behind them -- stories of hope, transformation and empowerment."

"Dr. Priti Adani's keynote was a powerful call to bold action," said Naina Subberwal Batra, CEO of AVPN. "She reminded us that we need to act, even amidst uncertainty, and to invest in solutions to build the foundations for a sustainable and equitable future for Asia. At AVPN, we echo this call for action. Philanthropy must stay the course and unite diverse stakeholders so that together, we can turn conviction into action and build systems that withstand the test of time and uncertainty."

Dr. Priti Adani outlined three non-negotiables for the shared movement. First, Co-Building--every partner comes not as a donor, but as a builder of lasting change. Second, Multipliers, Not Beneficiaries--the true measure of impact is not in what we give, but in how we extend our beneficiaries as multipliers of change. Third, Uniting Skills with Values--skills without values are buildings without foundations. Unite them, and you build generations.

Dr Adani declared, "This is not a moment to clap. It is a moment to commit! We must be the generation that sowed in the drought, that believed before the rains came, that built a harvest of dignity and opportunity for all."

"We must be co-builders, and not just donors. Philanthropy is not a one-way act of giving. Real change happens when we work as partners - philanthropists, corporates, governments, and communities coming together, pooling resources, and breaking down silos," she added.

Closing her address, Dr Adani urged the gathering to go beyond symbolic gestures and to actively collaborate, learn from one another, share best practices and inspire each other to aim higher.

Since 1996, the Adani Foundation, social welfare and development arm of the Adani Group, has remained agile and deeply committed to making strategic social investments for sustainable outcomes across India.

It is empowering and enriching the lives of children, women, youth, and marginalized communities in the core areas of education, health and nutrition, sustainable livelihoods, climate action, and community development.

The strategies of the Foundation are integrated in national priorities and global Sustainable Development Goals. The Adani Foundation is currently operating in 7,071 villages across 22 states, positively impacting 9.6 million lives.

"Don't just give. Build together." - What a powerful message! Corporate social responsibility should be about partnership, not just charity. Hope more Indian companies adopt this approach.

The three non-negotiables make so much sense. Especially "Multipliers, Not Beneficiaries" - we need to create sustainable change, not dependency. This is how real development happens in rural India.

While the vision is commendable, I hope this platform remains accessible to smaller NGOs and doesn't become dominated by large corporate foundations. True collaboration means equal voices for all stakeholders.

9.6 million lives impacted across 7000+ villages - these numbers show what's possible when corporate India engages meaningfully with social development. More companies should learn from Adani Foundation's model.

The emphasis on "stories behind the numbers" is so important. Development work isn't about statistics - it's about real people and their journeys. This human-centered approach is refreshing.
