While the optics are good, I hope concrete outcomes emerge from these talks. Maldives has been drifting towards China lately. India needs to protect its strategic interests in the Indian Ocean region.

The children's dance performance must have been lovely! These cultural connections are what truly build lasting friendships between nations. Reminds me of our shared history - Maldives was the first country PM Rajiv Gandhi visited in 1986.

Hope this visit improves things for Indian workers in Maldives. Many face difficulties there. Diplomatic visits should translate to better protection for our citizens abroad. 🙏

The President coming to airport personally is a big deal! Shows they value the relationship despite recent hiccups. India has always been first responder for Maldives in crises - hope they remember that.
