People looking at BJP with immense hope in West Bengal: PM Modi

PM Modi highlights Bengal's hopeful shift to BJP amid TMC's declining trust.

"Bengal mein machi cheekh pukaar, nahi chahiye nirmam sarkar. - PM Modi"

New Delhi, May 29

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday shared pictures from his rally in West Bengal's Alipurduar and said that the massive turnout reflects the current mood in the state and that the people are placing great hope in the BJP.

"These pictures from the BJP rally in Alipurduar give a glimpse of the mood in West Bengal. There is so much fatigue when it comes to TMC. People are looking at the BJP with immense hope," posted PM Modi on X.

Earlier in the day, while addressing the rally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked the Trinamool Congress government over "appeasement, corruption" and last month's violence in Murshidabad, saying that people do not trust it anymore and "Bengal mein machi cheekh pukaar, nahi chahiye nirmam Sarkar."

PM Modi also said a developed West Bengal is crucial for a developed India, and West Bengal needs to reclaim its identity, and alleged that in the name of appeasement, hooliganism was given a free hand in Murshidabad.

"Whatever happened in Murshidabad and Malda was an example of the government's ruthlessness here... In the name of appeasement, hooliganism was given a free hand. Imagine the horrific situation when the people of a party running the government identify and burn people's houses, and the police act as mere spectators. I ask the poor people of Bengal, is this how a government runs?... Here, the court has to intervene on every issue. Otherwise, nothing gets resolved. The people of Bengal do not trust the TMC government anymore... 'Bengal mein machi cheekh pukaar, nahi chahiye nirmam sarkar' (there is clamour in Bengal that people do not want a cruel government)," he said.

Protests against the Waqf Act had turned violent in the Murshidabad district last month.

PM Modi said West Bengal "is surrounded by many crises" simultaneously.

PM Modi said the youth and poor families suffer the worst consequences of corruption. He alleged that the education system of West Bengal is being ruined.

The Prime Minister accused the TMC government of hostility towards the tribals, the poor, the Dalits, the backwards classes and women.

PM Modi accused the TMC of being only interested in politics and said that the central government is trying to develop West Bengal.

Finally some hope for Bengal! The TMC government has completely failed in governance. Corruption is rampant and law & order situation is pathetic. People are fed up with their appeasement politics. BJP can bring real development to Bengal. Jai Hind! 🇮🇳

As a Bengali, I'm cautiously optimistic. While TMC has indeed failed on many fronts, we must ensure BJP doesn't just use Bengal as a political battleground. We need concrete development plans, not just rhetoric. The violence in Murshidabad was shameful - no party should politicize such tragedies.

Modi ji is absolutely right! Bengal was once the cultural capital of India, now it's become a hub of violence and corruption under TMC. The education system is in shambles. Time for change! BJP's double engine government can restore Bengal's glory ✨

I attended the Alipurduar rally and the energy was electric! People are genuinely fed up with TMC's misrule. But BJP needs to focus more on local issues - unemployment, infrastructure, not just national politics. Hope they deliver if given the chance.

While I agree TMC has governance issues, BJP should stop this "appeasement" narrative. All communities deserve equal rights. Focus should be on development for ALL Bengalis, not divisive politics. Bengal needs unity, not more polarization.

The massive turnout shows people want change! TMC has become arrogant with power. From education to industry, everything is suffering. BJP at least has a track record of development in other states. Ebar BJP, ebar poriborton! (This time BJP, this time change!)
