The Padma Shri awardee performed live with his band, Kailasa, at the grand launch of the Bhagva app here in the national capital on Friday evening.

Speaking to ANI at the event, the singer shared his views on contemporary music and why it often fails to connect with audiences.

When asked why many of today's songs feel meaningless, Kher said, "These days, people want everything fast--happiness, peace, fun--and they want it quickly. I don't understand this formula... Peace never comes in a hurry."

"Thode intellectuals badal gaye hain. Woh apni duniya chala rahe hain... Jaldi-jaldi kuch bhi likh rahe hain. Bina sar-pair ki koi baat likh rahe hain," he added.

"Pehle kya tha, ek art tha, ek simplicity thi. Usko bhi craft ki tarah se jab pesh karte the toh dilon par asar karta tha..(Earlier, there was art and simplicity. When it was presented like a craft, it touched people's hearts,)" he added.

Kher and his band Kailasa delivered a soulful live performance, captivating the audience with some of his most iconic songs.

The grand event was attended by several well-known personalities, including Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and BJP MP Manoj Tiwari.

Kailash Kher speaks truth! Today's music lacks depth and soul. His songs like "Allah Ke Bande" still give me goosebumps after all these years. Modern composers should learn from legends like him. 🙏

While I respect Kher ji's opinion, I think every generation has its own music style. The youth today connect with different sounds. That doesn't make it meaningless - just different. But yes, his music is timeless! ❤️

"Peace never comes in a hurry" - what a profound statement! This is why I still listen to "Teri Deewani" on repeat. The new Bhagva app sounds interesting too - will definitely check it out.

I attended the event last night! Kher's live performance was magical ✨ The way he explained the difference between meaningful music and today's fast food songs really made me think. More artists should speak up like this.

Respectfully disagree with some points. While Kher's music is undoubtedly classic, today's artists like Arijit Singh are creating meaningful music too. Maybe we need to look beyond Bollywood remixes to find quality in current music?
