One fish makes the whole pond dirty: Rajasthan Minister Kirori Lal Meena cracks down on adulteration in agricultural products

Rajasthan Minister exposes dangerous agricultural product contamination, pledges strict action against traders mixing harmful substances

"One fish makes the whole pond dirty - Kirori Lal Meena"

Jaipur, June 8

Rajasthan Cabinet Minister Kirori Lal Meena on Sunday criticised the increasing cases of adulteration in agricultural products and warned farmers and traders against mixing harmful substances that can have severe consequences.

Speaking on the issue, Meena emphasised the detrimental effects of such practices on consumer health and the farmers themselves.

Using the analogy of "one fish making the whole pond dirty," Meena cautioned traders against engaging in such malpractices, stressing that guilty parties will face action.

The minister assured that tests are conducted on seeds and fertilisers, and samples are collected and analysed. Strict action will be taken against those found guilty.

"Among farmers, some handful are trying to mix poison, which will make us sick. Farmer's land will also become barren, and the farmer will fall into complete financial debt... I want to tell the merchant brothers that, just as one fish makes the whole pond dirty, something like this is happening in their circles also... We have not threatened anyone during the steps I took for a few days. We have also initiated the test. Traders collect samples of the seeds and fertilisers and reject them after the test. We will take action against whoever is guilty," Meena told ANI.

Meena's statement reflects the government's commitment to ensuring the quality of agricultural products and protecting both farmers and consumers from harmful practices. The initiative aims to promote transparency and accountability in the agricultural sector.

Finally some strict action against adulteration! Our farmers' reputation is getting spoiled by these black sheep. Minister Meena is absolutely right - one bad apple spoils the whole basket. Hope this sends a strong message. 🙏

Good initiative but implementation is key. We've seen many such announcements before. Will there be regular checks or just occasional raids? Farmers need education about long-term effects of adulteration too, not just threats.

This adulteration mafia is playing with people's lives! From milk to spices to now seeds - everything is being tampered with. Strict punishment should be given, no leniency. Our health is not a joke!

As someone from a farming family, I appreciate this move. Honest farmers suffer when others cheat. But government should also ensure good quality seeds/fertilizers are available at fair prices. Sometimes shortage leads to desperation.

The fish analogy is perfect! These greedy traders are destroying Rajasthan's agricultural reputation. Hope this isn't just pre-election drama. We need sustained action - our children's health depends on it.

While the intention is good, the focus seems only on punishing. Why not reward honest farmers and traders too? Positive reinforcement works better than just threats. Set up certification for quality produce!
