This time, the New Year dawned first in Kiribati, where midnight marked the start of 2026 on Kiritimati Island at 10:00 GMT.

Happy New Year to our Kiwi friends! 🇳🇿 While the display is beautiful, I can't help but think of the cost and environmental impact of such fireworks. In India, many cities are moving towards laser shows. Maybe a more sustainable celebration is the way forward for everyone.
