Bhopal, Oct 24

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav visited Bhopal's Hamida hospital to meet the children affected by the carbide gun incident and inquire about their health on Friday night.

During the visit, the Chief Minister interacted with the medical team to enquire about the condition of those affected, especially children, and the treatment being provided to them. He instructed doctors to ensure the best possible medical care.

The Chief Minister also directed that proper treatment be provided to children and citizens affected by carbide guns in other parts of the state. He has ordered that assistance be extended from the Chief Minister’s Discretionary Fund.

"The Health Department is continuously monitoring such cases. Since the manufacture and sale of deadly carbide guns are illegal, raids and investigations are being conducted at the police station level to prevent their use," Yadav said.

Guardians of the patients admitted to Hamidia Hospital described the use of carbide guns by their family members as unfortunate. They expressed satisfaction with the treatment provided at the hospital.

The Chief Minister visited Hamidia Hospital after returning from Bihar, where he had addressed three back-to-back election rallies throughout the day. He was accompanied during the hospital visit by Sandeep Yadav, Principal Secretary of the Health Department, and Deepak Kumar Saxena, Commissioner of Public Relations.

Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla, who oversees the state's health department, and the Leader of Opposition in the state, Umang Singhar, had also visited Hamidia Hospital.

Meanwhile, police on Friday claimed to have seized nearly 60 carbide guns from Bhopal and arrested two suspects after several children suffered eye injuries while playing with them.

According to Dr. Kavita Kumar, Head of the Eye Department at Hamidia Hospital, six children are currently admitted with serious injuries, while 27 others were treated and discharged over the past three days.

Why do politicians always visit hospitals only after incidents become news? The police should have cracked down on these illegal guns long back. Better late than never though.

As a parent, this is terrifying! We need more awareness campaigns in schools and communities about the dangers of such toys. Thank you doctors for your hard work! 👏

The manufacturers and sellers of these dangerous items should face strict punishment. Children's safety should be our top priority. Good that action is being taken now.

Appreciate the CM's visit but the real test is sustained action. Hope this isn't just a one-time photo opportunity. The police raids must continue across MP.
