Money going into pockets of contractors: K Kavitha demands answers on Telangana govt's 2 lakh cr debt

BRS leader K Kavitha demands transparency on Telangana's Rs 2 lakh crore loan, alleging funds benefit contractors over public welfare.

"This money is going into the pockets of contractors in unnecessary projects – K Kavitha"

Hyderabad, June 26

Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha raised concerns over the Telangana government's recent loan of Rs 2 lakh crore, questioning where the funds are being utilised.

Speaking to ANI, Kavitha pointed out that despite taking significant debt, the government is not paying off old projects or loans.

"Today, our Telangana CM, Revanth Reddy, has put himself on top by getting a loan of Rs 2 lakh crore, and till now, he is saying that he is trying to repay the debt inherited by the KCR government. Some documents say that the government is continuously defaulting on the loans that it bought from various agencies. Now, when you are bringing a debt of Rs 2 lakh crore, you are not paying off the old projects or the old loans of the state. Where is the money going? " she said.

The BRS leader alleged that the money is used for unnecessary projects that benefit contractors.

"This is the question in the hearts of the people in Telangana today. This money is going into the pockets of contractors in unnecessary projects," Kavitha claimed.

Earlier, K Kavitha visited the CPM office in Hyderabad and requested support for the Backwards Class movement in Telangana.

K Kavitha also requested support from every party over the issue and noted that the state government is trying to conduct the local body polls without any reservation.

The BRS MLC also requested CPM's support for her party's "Rail Roko" campaign, which is scheduled to take place on July 17. She mentioned that the campaign's main agenda is to ensure that the Union Government understands the "seriousness" of the backwards class in Telangana.

"We are requesting CPM to support our Rail Roko campaign, which we have announced for 17 July, to make sure that the Central Government understands the seriousness of the BCs of Telangana and also to make sure that the state government understands the BC movement of Telangana", K Kavitha added.

The Telangana Backwards Class 2025 Bill was passed in the Telangana assembly on March 17, which aims to increase reservations for backwards classes in education, employment, and local bodies.

Kavitha is raising valid concerns. 2 lakh crore is no small amount - taxpayers deserve transparency. If money is going to contractors instead of development, it's daylight robbery. Hope media investigates properly 🤔

Both BRS and Congress playing politics with Telangana's future. First KCR took massive loans, now Revanth Reddy continuing same. When will our leaders think about common people instead of their vote banks? 😤

Interesting how Kavitha ji is suddenly concerned about finances after being in power for 9 years. Where was this accountability when BRS was ruling? Political parties should stop this blame game and show actual accounts.

As a Telangana resident, I see new roads and buildings but also rising prices. If loans aren't being repaid properly, future generations will suffer. Government should give clear breakdown - how much for development vs debt repayment?

Rail Roko will only hurt common people. Instead of protests, opposition should use RTI to get project details. We need solutions, not more drama! 🙏

Whether BRS or Congress, contractor raj continues in Telangana. Until we have strong Lokayukta and transparent tendering process, public money will keep disappearing. Centre should audit these massive loans! 🇮🇳
