'Thudarum' has been selected under the Indian Panorama Section at the film festival, which is scheduled to be held in November.

A flagship component of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Indian Panorama selections are the best of contemporary Indian films toward the goal of promoting film art. Introduced in 1978 to promote Indian films along with the country's rich culture and heritage, Indian Panorama has remained completely devoted to showcasing the best Indian films of the year.

Also, the primary aim of the Indian Panorama is to select feature and non-feature films of cinematic, thematic and aesthetic excellence for the promotion of film art through the non-profit screening of these films under different categories.

This year, the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will be held from November 20 to 28, 2025, in Goa.

Coming to Mohanlal's 'Thudarum', it is considered among the successful Malayalam films of this year. Directed by Tharun Moorthy, the film's story revolves around a humble taxi driver who treasures his ageing Ambassador car above all. However, when fate shifts, he is led into unexpected twists and troubles.

Besides Mohanlal, the film also features Shobana, Prakash Varma, Binu Pappu, Farhaan Faasil, Thomas Mathew, and Maniyanpilla Raju, among others.

The film was a blockbuster at the box office. This minimal budget film earned over Rs 150 crore worldwide.

️150 crore for a minimal budget film is absolutely incredible! This shows that good content always wins. Mohanlal's performance as the taxi driver was so authentic and heartwarming. Can't wait to see more Malayalam films getting such prestigious recognition.

As someone who recently discovered Malayalam cinema, I'm thrilled to see regional films getting this kind of platform. The story of Thudarum sounds so relatable - reminds me of the emotional connection people have with their first cars. Looking forward to watching it!

While I'm happy for the recognition, I do feel IFFI should also highlight more independent filmmakers who don't have star power like Mohanlal. Many talented directors struggle to get noticed despite making excellent films.

The Ambassador car becoming a character itself in the film was such a brilliant concept! 🚗 Mohanlal and Shobana's chemistry was magical. This selection at Indian Panorama will definitely help Malayalam cinema reach wider audiences across India.
