While I appreciate their work, I sometimes feel Mani Ratnam's female characters could be more progressive by today's standards. But no denying the impact these films had in the 90s! Manisha was absolutely brilliant in Bombay.

Mani Ratnam's films are like fine wine - they get better with time. The way he blended art with commercial elements was masterful. Happy to see this mutual respect between artist and muse. More filmmakers should nurture talent like this.
