Lalu Prasad Yadav is Bihar's 'Ravan': Giriraj Singh

Union Minister Giriraj Singh made strong political statements during Dussehra celebrations in Bihar. He compared Lalu Prasad Yadav's rule before 2005 to Ravan's reign while praising Nitish Kumar's development work. The BJP leader also targeted Rahul Gandhi, calling him an "urban Naxal" for his political approach. These remarks come as political tensions rise ahead of Bihar's upcoming assembly elections.

Patna, Oct 2

Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh on Thursday targeted RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, calling him the "Ravan" of Bihar.

Addressing a gathering during Dussehra, Singh, the Begusarai MP, said, "Before 2005, 'Ravan' Lalu Prasad Yadav ruled Bihar."

Drawing comparisons between the Lalu and Nitish regimes, the Union Minister said, "Lalu once opened shepherd schools, while today Nitish Kumar is opening medical and engineering colleges in every district. Today, our government is wiping the tears of the poor."

Highlighting the Centre and state government's initiatives, the Union Minister said more than 2.5 crore women have benefited under various schemes, and homes are being provided to the poor.

The BJP leader also attacked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, calling him an "urban Naxal".

He said, "People like Rahul Gandhi only use abusive language. Becoming an RSS volunteer requires seven lifetimes. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh works for the nation during every crisis, while Rahul Gandhi continues with his theatrics."

Bihar Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary slammed the RJD chief, saying that the state witnessed "Ravan Raj" during the Lalu-Rabri era, while under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, it is now "Ram Rajya".

Speaking to media persons in Begusarai, Minister Choudhary said, "What was the situation 20 years ago? You are the residents of Begusarai - I want to ask, could you freely move on the streets back then? During the Lalu Prasad Yadav government, there was Ravan Raj. Today, under Nitish Kumar's government, there is Ram Raj."

The remarks came as politics intensified around Vijayadashami celebrations in Bihar.

While BJP leaders, including Union Minister Giriraj Singh, have branded Lalu and his son Tejashwi Yadav as "Ravan", the RJD has been countering with sharp attacks on the NDA through social media.

Bihar is slated to go to polls in October or November this year.

While I agree Lalu's rule had issues, calling political opponents "Ravan" during religious festivals is not right. Politics should be about policies, not personal attacks. We need more respectful discourse.

As someone who lived through the 90s in Bihar, I can confirm - roads were terrible, electricity was a luxury, and safety was a major concern. The comparison between shepherd schools and medical colleges says it all! 🔥

Interesting to see how religious symbolism is being used in political rhetoric. In a diverse country like India, politicians should be careful about mixing religion with politics. The focus should remain on development.

The truth hurts! Lalu Yadav's family treated Bihar like their personal fiefdom. At least now we have proper roads, electricity, and some development happening. Jai Bihar! 🚩

My grandmother still remembers how difficult it was during Lalu's time. She couldn't go out after dark. Now things are much better. But politicians should stop this name-calling and focus on work.
