Thakur also praised Avesh Khan's bowling abilities and credited Prince Yadav for his performance in the 19th over.

While speaking in the post-match presentation, Shardul Thakur said, "Never easy, pressure time, you know, high stakes on the line. I tried to run him out, unfortunately, I didn't and then the next ball I took the catch. No idea (on the catch), I probably was standing at the right angle, that's something very important and managed to take it. We knew Avesh's capability (with the ball), credit to Prince as well for that 19th over. He can surprise the batter easily (with his pace), that's what we saw today and in that first game in Vizag as well."

Thakur felt happy to be part of the team (LSG) and credited the coaches and management for their "focus on the process" and their support, which has helped them win close games.

"Very happy (on being part of the team), the coaches and the management have stressed following the process and not worrying about the results. I think around 4 games have gone to the wire, and we've won 3 of those. Credit goes to the management for making sure that we are taken good care of, both on and off the field. Their encouragement has helped us get through difficult moments," he added.

A fantastic last over by Avesh Khan helped Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defy some serious hitting by Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Suryavanshi and stand-in skipper Riyan Parag as Rajasthan Royals (RR) fell short by two runs at their home venue of Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Saturday.

Avesh took a three-wicket haul while defending nine runs in the final over. LSG won the match by 2 runs as it had posted 181 runs. Rajasthan were restricted to 178. Avesh took home the 'Player of the Match' award for his outstanding display of bowling.

In the current standings, RR is in eighth spot with two wins and six losses, whereas LSG is in fourth spot with five wins and three losses.

What a nail-biter! Avesh Khan was ice-cool under pressure 🥶 That last over was pure class. LSG's death bowling is becoming their superpower this season!

While Avesh was brilliant, I think RR's middle order needs to step up. Too much reliance on Jaiswal and Parag. The team needs to work on their batting depth.

Shardul's humility is refreshing! Giving credit to the coaches and management shows great team spirit. LSG's culture seems really positive this year.

That catch by Thakur was crucial! People underestimate fielding in T20s but these moments change games. Also, 3/4 close wins for LSG? That's championship mentality! 💪

As an RR fan, this hurts 😢 But credit where it's due - Avesh's yorkers were perfect. We need to bounce back strong in the next game!

The real winner was cricket! What an advertisement for IPL. Edge-of-the-seat stuff till the last ball. More matches like this please! 🙌
