Khamenei declares 'battle has begun' as Iran fires hypersonic missile at Israel

Iran escalates conflict with Israel by launching a hypersonic missile as Khamenei declares war, prompting global concern and US intervention.

"I believe we have set them back a very, very long time. – Benjamin Netanyahu"

Tel Aviv, June 18

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared that the "battle has begun" after Tehran launched a hypersonic missile at Israel. This escalation has intensified the already volatile conflict, as the military confrontation between Iran and Israel enters its sixth day on Wednesday.

Israel has carried out a series of devastating airstrikes on Iranian territory, reportedly killing at least 224 individuals. Among the casualties are senior military figures, nuclear scientists, and civilians. In retaliation, Iran launched several attacks on Israeli targets, resulting in the deaths of at least 24 people, including women and children, according to Israeli officials.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Israeli military confirmed the detection of additional missile launches originating from Iran.

The situation has drawn global concern, prompting US President Donald Trump to cut short his participation in the G7 summit in Canada. Before departing, he expressed firm support for Israel and issued a stark warning to residents of Tehran, advising them to evacuate in anticipation of potential escalation.

The conflict erupted last Friday when Israel initiated a large-scale offensive aimed at dismantling Iran’s nuclear and military capabilities. This action prompted swift and aggressive retaliation from Tehran, pushing the region closer to the brink of a broader war.

These developments come amid ongoing but fragile diplomatic efforts between Iran and the US to revive negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the media, stating that Israel’s actions have significantly delayed Iran’s nuclear ambitions. “I believe we have set them back a very, very long time,” he asserted.

This conflict is worrying for regional stability. As Indians, we know how tensions in West Asia affect our oil prices and diaspora safety. Hope both sides show restraint before this spirals out of control. India should offer mediation - we have good relations with both Israel and Iran.

Hypersonic missiles? 😳 This tech race is getting dangerous. While Israel has right to defend itself, civilian casualties on both sides are heartbreaking. India should learn from this - we must strengthen our own missile defense systems considering our neighborhood challenges.

Iran's aggression shows why India was right to strengthen ties with Israel. Their intelligence sharing helps us counter terrorism. But war is no solution - hope Modi ji can use his diplomatic channels to calm tensions. Our 8 million diaspora in Gulf needs protection too.

So many innocent lives lost on both sides... When will leaders learn? India should push for UN intervention. This affects global economy - already seeing petrol prices shoot up in Delhi. Our government must prepare contingency plans for NRIs and oil supplies.

Nuclear scientists being targeted is concerning. While Iran's nuclear ambitions are problematic, assassinations only escalate tensions. India should stay neutral but vigilant - our energy needs and Chabahar port interests must be protected amidst this crisis.

The timing is suspicious - just when nuclear talks were progressing. Both sides share blame, but hypersonic missiles change the game entirely. India's defense establishment should study this carefully. Our neighborhood has enough tensions without importing West Asian conflicts.
