My heart goes out to the affected families. The compensation announced is decent but rehabilitation will take years. Government should also focus on long-term solutions like better drainage systems in vulnerable areas.

LG Sinha and CM Abdullah working together is a positive sign for J&K. Disaster management needs political unity. Hope they maintain this coordination for actual reconstruction work too.

The compensation amounts seem inadequate considering today's costs. Rs 1 lakh for a fully damaged house? That won't even cover foundation work in most places. Needs revision.

We need proper accountability in relief distribution. Past experiences show funds often don't reach the needy. Hope this time there's transparency and social audits.

Cloudbursts becoming frequent in Himalayas due to climate change. Instead of just relief, we need massive afforestation drives and strict regulations on construction in ecologically sensitive zones.

The immediate focus should be on restoring connectivity - roads, electricity, communication networks. Without these, even relief materials can't reach properly. Good that officials are prioritizing this.
