The first half remained goalless as both sides couldn’t manage to break the deadlock in the tight contest. In the 35th minute, India finally scored the opening goal as Lalthantluangi successfully converted a fortunate penalty stroke.

In the last quarter, Van Hellemont (48’) scored the equaliser through a field goal for Belgium. However, just two minutes later, Geeta Yadav replied with a field goal herself and grabbed the winner for India.

After wrapping up the promising outing at the Four Nations Tournament in Rosario, Argentina, the Indian team has now reached Europe for the five-match tour, which they kicked off their tour of Europe with a fantastic win against Belgium on Sunday.

The Indian side won the game 3-2 at the Hockey Center of Excellence, Wilrijkse Plein.

After two consecutive wins, the Indian junior women will next play Belgium for the third and final time in their Tour of Europe on June 12.

In Argentina, the Indian side delivered strong performances against quality opposition. They registered a 2-1 win and a 2-2 (2-3 SO) loss against Chile, earned a 1-1 (2-0 SO) win and a 2-4 loss against hosts Argentina, and defeated Uruguay twice — 3-2 and 2-2 (3-1 SO).

What a fantastic win! 🎉 Our girls are making us proud on foreign soil. Lalthantluangi and Geeta Yadav - remember these names, they'll be future stars of Indian hockey! The defense in the last 10 minutes shows real grit. #ChakDeIndia

Belgium is no easy opponent in hockey. This victory shows how much our junior women's team has improved. But we need to work on consistency - the Argentina tour had mixed results. Hope they maintain this form for the World Cup!

So happy to see hockey getting attention beyond cricket! These girls are showing what dedication looks like. The quick response after Belgium's equalizer was brilliant - that's the fighting spirit we need in all sports 💪

Good performance but we conceded too many goals in Argentina matches. Defense needs tightening before the Junior World Cup. Still, beating European teams on their home turf is no small achievement. More power to our girls!

As someone from Odisha where hockey is like religion, this news makes my day! The state has produced so many hockey stars, and now we're seeing talent from across India shine. Hope they get proper support and facilities to grow further.

Why isn't this getting more coverage? Our media only cares about cricket while our hockey teams keep achieving great things abroad. These matches should be telecast live - would inspire so many young girls to take up sports!
