This is a wise move by our government. Maldives is strategically important for India's maritime security. Helping our neighbors in need strengthens regional stability. Hope they remember this goodwill when China comes knocking with their debt-trap diplomacy! 🇮🇳🤝

While I appreciate India's generosity, I hope our government is keeping track of how much financial aid we're giving to Maldives. We have our own development needs too. The interest-free part concerns me - at least nominal interest would make it more sustainable long-term.

Great to see Neighbourhood First policy in action! Maldives is like our younger sibling in the Indian Ocean. When we help them, we're actually securing our own backyard. More power to such diplomatic moves that build trust rather than creating dependencies like some other countries do.

As someone who visited Maldives last year, I can say their people genuinely appreciate India's help. The shopkeepers in Male still remember how India sent vaccines during COVID. This financial support will only strengthen those people-to-people bonds. Tourism between our countries should increase too!

Hope this assistance comes with some accountability measures. We've seen how some countries take our help and then make anti-India statements later. The Maldivian government must ensure this money benefits their citizens directly, not just the political elite.
